These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the VIN Reader App. The VIN Reader App is provided with a perpetual software license with no recurring fees to users who have purchased the MODI OBDII Reader and have downloaded the VIN Reader Application ("the Application"), collectively referred to as the MODI device. By using the VIN Reader App and the MODI device, you agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions.
By using the VIN Reader App, you acknowledge and agree that all terms and policies that apply to the use of the MODI Application as well as the MODI website also apply to the use of the VIN Reader App. These documents regulate the relations between users and the Provider, ensuring clarity and mutual understanding of rights and responsibilities. 2. Scope of Use
The VIN Reader App is provided with a perpetual software license with no recurring fees using the MODI device for the purpose of reading Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) and mileage data from vehicles via the OBDII port.
The MODI VIN Reader App allows users to send HTTPS requests with VIN numbers to external databases for stolen vehicle checks. Specifically, requests can be made to the European Database for Stolen Vehicles ( https://www.stolencars24.eu) and the South African Database for Stolen Cars (https://coza.net.za/). However, this function is entirely optional. If users choose not to utilize it, the application can operate entirely offline, without transmitting any VIN data to external sources.
3. Limitations of Liability
The VIN Reader App is provided on an "as-is" basis. MODI Abrites does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the VIN or mileage data, nor the information provided by any third-party databases.
MODI Abrites is not liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the App, including, but not limited to, data discrepancies or any illegal use of the App.
4. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary authorization to access and scan the vehicle’s VIN and mileage data.
The App should only be used for lawful purposes, and you must comply with all applicable laws and regulations when using the App.
5. Modifications to Terms
MODI Abrites reserves the right to modify these Terms, as well as the Terms and Policies of the MODI Application and the MODI website, at any time. Any changes will be communicated through the App or on the official website. Continued use of the App after any updates to the Terms will constitute your acceptance of the revised Terms.
6. Termination
MODI Abrites reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to the App at any time, without notice, if you violate these Terms or applicable laws.
